I'am thinking about putting a center console and floor shifter in my 1969 Chevelle Malibu, I have the carpet pulled out and it still has the original tar paper on the floor. There is a piece on the hump that has a perferated circle where I think the hole would be brilled out for the shifter cable, can someone tell me if that is what it is for. Also what size hole needs to be drilled to accept the cable. If some one has a center console for sale that would make a nice driver let me know, I hate to have to go to E-VIL and purchase one. Thanx Jerry

Contact.... True Connections. They sometimes have used consols and the new cable from Shift Works. The cable kit has the template as to where to drill the hole.

I don't know if 69 and 72 would be same (I think so). When I added mine, I found some dimples in the sheetmetal for the shifter mounting itself. The cable goes through a flattened part of the floor hump offset to the driver's side. There is actually a spot that looks exactly like it is made to drill a 1-1/2" hole through. Hope these pics illustrate it for you:
