: going to try the brodix race rites(thanks wolfplace)!
mr68 Apr 21st, 04, 9:11 PM talked to mike lewis(wolfplace)these last couple of days and he helped me decide on a set of the brodix race rite oval port big block heads.can't say enough on how much of a pleasure it has been working with mike. he's a real help .and he helped me get a very nice deal as well. i'm getting them angle milled to 108cc and also opted for the cnc chambers. these heads have a lot to prove i'll be posting my results as soon as i get the combo up and running again. my fully ported #215 oval ports are going to be hard to beat 11.21 121.4mph, but i hope to get into the 1090's with my 4/speed and ultradyne 288/296. my combo will remain unchanged except for some additional weight loss and the head change.also i'll be losing about 1/2 point in compression, was 10.52 now 10.02.if anyone else is considereing these heads i would highly recommend talking with mike. ray

Robert,
Where did you get that idea??
I have said before I prefer not to angle mill unless necessary as it is a pain as you have to correct the intake angle, spot face the bolt holes etc. but have no trouble doing it & in this case it's being done by Brodix for a very reasonable fee.
It completly depends on the application but I have angle milled small blocks by about .110 which is almost 1 degree before for some deals.
Spent the last two days on the dyno with an 18 deg small block that I cut the heads a full 1 degree (just over .130) to get the compression we wanted (15.0 cold) & estimated at 14.7 hot.

Bob West Apr 22nd, 04, 7:48 AM Sorry Mike,,,I remember reading a post in the last week saying they didnt recommend angle milling, thought it was you... graemlins/waving.gif
What are the details on the Brodix? What cc intake runner? They are aluminum also?
What are you planning on doing with the old, useless, worthless, tired 215's ? :D
mr68 Apr 22nd, 04, 1:16 PM the brodix have 271cc runners, they are aluminum,
flow numbers are posted on their site, i expect they will flow a little more w/ the cnc chamber.
my 215's are fresh from the head porter. he cleaned them up, installed bronze guides, did his usual 5 angle valve job on the serdi, installed new springs for me(135 closed 350 open), they are mint. he made a mistake and did'nt use sealer on the exaust guides and 3 of them leaked so he removed all of them sealed them and installed new ones., then re kissed the seats. they were pressure tested at 45psi(twice the norm) and checked out good.i'm going to sell the 215's
they will be priced very fairly. anyone who buys them replacing a stock set of heads will see a 100
horsepower gain if they use a decent cam profile.
these heads "kick butt" they look like they should be bronzed and put in a glass case. the port work is un real. if the race rites don't work well right from brodix, i'll have these brodix ported as well. ray
Regarding your 215's,....you have mail.
Regarding the new Brodix,... do they have raised exhaust ports?
I assume your Ultradyne 288/296 is the solid F10 version, not hydraulic, correct??
I'll be watching for your results for sure.
mr68 Apr 22nd, 04, 8:31 PM jim ,the new brodix have stock location exaust ports. yes i run the solid ultradyne 288/296 110lsa. 612/630. it kicks butt. i wonder if the brodix and the ultradyne cam combo will rpm as fast as my old combo, it just hit like crazy with the 215's and the 612/630 solid.
