On Mickey Thompson's website, they list a 295/65/15 as being 30" diameter and having a 10.9" tread width. In my Summit catalog they say it's 29.6 tall and 10.0" tread. Which of these is correct? And will I gain anything at all by buying a set of 10" wheels to mount them on rather than my current 8"?

The tread will sit flatter on a 10" rim, you will get as much sidwall bubble.

Is anybody running a M/T street radial 295/65/15 on a 70-72 A-body without having to lift the 1/4s up over the tires? The lips are already rolled on the panels. If so, what width wheel are you using? I'm running 275s now and have run 28X12.50 Sportsman Pros. I don't think there's a clearance issue, but would like to hear firsthand.

Danny,
I've got 295/65-15 M/T ET Street radials on my '70 on 15x10" Weld Pro Stars with a 5.5" BS...fit fine after rolling the upper portion of the inner lip edge slightly.
I also run a Hoosier 10.5x15x30" radial slick...about the same size tire as the M/T ET...one the same size/style wheel.
No issues...

Thanks, Bill. I have two questions if you don't mind. I've already got a pair of 8" Prostars. Will there be enough benefit for me to spend $400 for the 10"? Or will those 295s not work on 8s. And also, what gear are you running? I'm concerned that my 468" won't have enough on the bottom side to get my car out of the water even with the 4.10s. Your 540 don't care what gear you have but I have to be careful.

Thanks
Danny

You've already got the 8" wheels...I'd try them and see how the fit is first. Probably be just fine...
I run a 3.73 12 bolt.

With a 4.10 gear I cant see you having any issued I run a 29.5 tall Slick with no issues with my 468 4500 stall my Mile per hour went up and my 60 foot went down and for the 1st time ever the car picked up the front end!
I say try them hell they only last a short time anyway if you dont like them you can sell or trade them for something else on the board or on another board Im sure!
Good luck!
