I have a true 72 SS 454. Could someine explaine what a L-3 and a L-6 Chevelle is?

I think you may be referring to LS-3 (which was the RPO for the 402). L-6 wasn't an RPO but it was the design type of the 6 cyl engine (like the other engines were V8's).
