if i took off the factory seals and replaced them with umbrella seals will it increase the guide to retainer clearance problem?a comp 270H is going in a .040 350.thanks buzz

It worked for me, but I also used the Z28 springs, retainers, and locks.

You still have to measure to make sure because the castings aren't CNC machined to close tolerances. If you don't measure, and it doesn't work for you, don't say I didn't warn you.
