Made my first trip to the track Friday since making some changes to my suspension. Outside of one pass at Rockingham in April when the track and air was near perfect, I made my 5 best 1/8 mi passes. Depending on track conditions, my car would run anywhere from mid 7.40s to high 7.50s with a best of 7.36 (Rockingham) before the changes. I put 5392 springs with some Koni shocks in the front and added the Edelbrock no-hop bars and upper adjustables in the rear. My 5 passes Friday night were 7.42, 7.39, and 7.40 with 28X10.5 stiffs and 7.38,7.38 with 275 M/T street radials. My 60ft in the past was mid to high 1.60s. Friday they were 1.62, 1.60, 1.60 and with street radials 1.62 and 1.63. The track was probably 7.5-8 on a 1 to 10 scale. 1/4 mi traps were not set up, but I'm sure these would have been all 11.60s. I made these changes hoping for more consistant times. I got that and I feel like there are some high 1.50s to be had on a better night. I just can't understand these radials producing better 1/8 mi ET and MPH while .01-.02 slower in the 60ft. Do they just roll that much easier?

How much air did you have in the slicks? Radial slicks are quicker than bias slicks just due to less rolling resistance.

Those Edelbrock anti-hop bars are such a drastic relocation.. Does your car rear up real bad with them?

Sorry guys. I was at work when I posted the thread and came home and went straight to the shop.

Bob, I had 14 lbs in the slicks. From what I hear, maybe that's not enough, but they are on 8' wheels and I feel like if I add air, I'm starting to pull the footprint off the side of the tire. I've been trying to find some good used 10" Prostars to put my slicks on to help with this. Tell me if I'm wrong. Some have told me that I may be a little overgeared with my camshaft(Crane 304 FT) and 4.10 gears. That cam is 238/248 @.050 -567/573 lift. Thinking along those lines, I'm contemplating putting a set of 295/65 street radials on 10" wheels and forget about the slicks. It's a 468" and 4000lbs of car and driver so 30" tires may be too much. Give me some feedback...please.

TJ, I didn't feel the car raise in the rear if that's what you're asking, but my buddy told me it didn't seem to be rolling over to the rearend like it should. Almost as if it was too stiff in the rear. I did feel the radials hit hard and then slip for a split second before grabbing again. I think that is why the 60ft was off a little from the slicks. I have the arms set free so I loaded the rt side with the airbag. Maybe that was wrong too. I guess it will just take a while to get sorted out, but in the meantime, I need all the help I can get.

Since I put the Eddy no-hoppers on, everytime I take off I can feel the rear of the car lift up. I like it.

that tire likes a short burnout,a little smoke and go
i run a 275/60/15 on 10" wheels and they work best at 20lbs.

I think those slicks would have liked a bit more air, with the front of the car coming up, that would have put them flat on the track. I used to run a 30x9x15 Hoosier radial slick on a 8" rim with my old 454 and 3.73's. It ran a best of 11.7x. I think your fine with a 30" tire and 4.11's.
