: 64 Blower motor power
nedss396 Oct 15th, 07, 10:54 AM Can't find this in my shop manual:
On a '64 Chevelle heater blower motor, where does the wire FROM the blower motor go? I know the lever control/switch wires plug into the relay, but how does the power get to the motor? Must be simple, but I want to get it right the first time, any help appreciated, THANKS.
nedss396 Oct 26th, 07, 1:55 PM Hey, if ANYONE has the answer to this, PLEASE post a quick reply? I need to finish this install and really just need to know where that hot wire goes.
THANKS, Guys.
Chevello Oct 26th, 07, 8:47 PM It's a black and orange wire under the hood. The connector on the fan motor is kind of up inside the fender on the right side. If you want a pic, let me know and I'll run out and shoot one.

nedss396 Oct 29th, 07, 3:46 PM Chevello, thanks, my problem is I have the wire FROM the blower, but I don't know where it goes....? I think it must attach to the relay on the inside, top of the heater box????? But not certain/sure where??
Any ideas?
Thanks, Ned
Chevello Oct 29th, 07, 10:46 PM Hm, mine was part of the engine harness. It didn't appear to go to anything but the bulkhead connector. Maybe this will help: http://www.autozone.com/az/cds/en_us/0900823d/80/11/cc/b2/0900823d8011ccb2/repairInfoPages.htm
The second one for 64 shows it going to the resistor.

Dean Oct 29th, 07, 10:59 PM I wonder if it's the same as 65's

Chevello Oct 30th, 07, 6:20 AM That's the way mine is. Bulkhead connector right to the fan blower. Must be a single speed fan on mine. I got the cheapy model :)

nedss396 Nov 5th, 07, 12:31 PM Well, I took the wire FROM the blower motor and connected it to the Black and Orange wire on the plug that goes to the relay. It worked! All the speeds work and it puts out heat!. Only problem now is that it is making noise like it hitting something! I had carefully checked and test ran all of this before I installed it. What could it be hitting ?
Chevello Nov 5th, 07, 11:26 PM Maybe some leaves in the air inlet? I usually urn the fan on high and let whatever it is blow out. if that doesn't work, I guess you're pulling the motor again :(

nedss396 Nov 6th, 07, 1:11 PM ........getting to that motor again is a LOT of work. The entire mounting area was clear and clean, can't figure why it would now be making this noise....maybe its too tight? I'll back off the screws a little.
Chevello Nov 6th, 07, 9:31 PM I'm thinking there is a piece of the seal that goes around the motor got loose and in there. I've never had mine out, but I have had others out, and there isn't much that could get in there.
Maybe a blast of compressed air up into the heater outlet to knock it out of the way?
Don't forget your dust mask :)
