I just replaced my steering colume. I also cleaned and pepacked the clapsable are that connects the colume to the box. Now my wheel is about 1/4 off to the right but the wheels are straight....Alignment????

There are 2 ways to correct this. One method (which I prefer) is to pull the steering wheel again and center it the best you can while the wheels are straight. The 2nd way would be to move the steering wheel to a centered position and adjust the tie rods to bring the wheels to a straight ahead position (alignment).
The problem with the 2nd method is you'll be opening up length on one tie rod and shortening anothers length. If the car is in good alignment now, recenter the steering wheel. You will need a steering wheel puller for this.

Ed. I pulled the wheel off. It has a sport wheel and only goes on one way. It originally was off alot more, I took the piviot off as mentioned to repack it.( It goes back two ways) then the wheel was really off. I took it off and turn it 180 and that fixed most of the problem. Now the wheel is off 1/4 no play in the box. I guess the only choice is alignment? Dont this they will have to change the tie rods much...what do you think?
