I have a stock '78 350 sitting inside of the Chevelle. It has 1 5/8 primary headers that feed into a 3 inch collector.
I want to run 3 inch pipes from the collectors and have them dump under the rocker panels just before the front of the rear tires. I'm considering using the shorty Flowmaster mufflers with these 3 inch pipes. The name of the game here is earth shattering sound and better flow over the current 2.25 inch glasspack exaust.
Now I know the old saying "Bigger isn't always better" and a 3 inch dual exaust is an overkill for a stock 350 engine right?
Well considering Flowmasters are so restrictive as compared to other mufflers I'm wondering if this set up would flow the same as the same set up using 2.5 inch pipe with Dynomax Ultraflow bullets? (straight thru design) What do you think?
Also keep in mind this engine won't be stock much longer as a bigger cam, better flowing heads and aluminum intake are in the works! ;)
