Joe,
yes, I run in the summit bracket series at englishtown, and usually go to atco during the gambardella footbrake races, as a crew member for a friend.
Both tracks are doing good, the car counts have been real high.

I drive pretty slow usually, so i dont see it as being a problem personally.

I've driven with teenagers in the back...they're much more dangerous

Is Etown going to have the LED bulbs in? If they do, then me and my friend will be there.

Hey never been to the track before But I might be able to go this sunday. What time should i get there on sunday? They will rent me a helmet right? How much is T&T? How will the track be? Sorry my first time just nervous. Thanks Dane

Also other then a helmet what will I be needing. A 5pt harness? A catch can for radiator overflow? Anything im missing?

Feb 25th, 04, 9:25 AM
Dane,I've never raced at Etown before..I don't think you'll be able to "rent" a helmet..basics are a radiator overflow, battery hold down,no more 12" of rubber fuel line, etc. check their website

you can rent a helmet for $3 and they hold your liscense til the end of the day.

Thats typically what i do, but i recently bought a simpson bandit.

I may or may not be there sunday depending on whether the LED lights will be up on sunday.
Hopefully they will! i want to see both your chevelles.

Doggy, Roll bar and 5 point harness is for 11.99 and quicker.

Typical sunday time trials start at 10:00 am, but this may be different since its time trials and no competition.

I emailed etown, and they will be using the LED lights.

I would expect to see me and my friend at etown, but i'll let you know if that changes.

Chris,

What is Test and Tune? Does that mean the track is not officially running and it's only practice or will you be really racing and getting a time slip?

These questions coming from a guy who's only ever been to a 1/4 mile track one time!(And that was 18 years ago when I was 17!) I was very sheltered!

Hope you better your times with the carb swap!!

Good Luck graemlins/thumbsup.gif

Feb 25th, 04, 3:41 PM
Scott, test and tune is exactly that, and you do get a timeslip. You could have a 10 second or 17 second car in the lane next to you..and traction conditions usually aren't the best either..
And thanks,I hope I do better than a 12.99 with the carb swap.

Think I'll be able to slip by tech for a run? I dont have the cage or the 5 pt just the stock shoulder and lap pieces.

Motor Martyr
Feb 25th, 04, 5:38 PM
Englishtown requires that all drivers in competition wear helmets, ALL DRIVERS

and they do not allow passengers in any race, each track has there own regulations, the NHRA rule book is the minimum.

BTW this isnt exactly a test and tune, it's the winter warm up, i would expect to see many of the usual suspects as well to alot of street cars.

New to the gang here. This will be my first time back at Etown in 10 yrs. Can't wait to see what this fresh 383 has in store.Should be intresting w/ the LED's.last time I ran they were bulbs. graemlins/sad.gif

last time everyone ran they were bulbs, thats one of the new features, much debated over, thats recently hit the sportsman ranks.
you'll see it at Island, Atco and even the division 1 bracket finals.

Etown tech is pretty good.

But will they not let me run with the 5pt or cage. Bc I have a 540. I can always argue its just a little big block it has a performere rpm and demon 750...lol. But honesty will they let me go for one run and see if i break the 11.99 requirement for 5 pt belts and cage

Don't they have something to check if you are lieing about displacement.

Bob Tiley
Feb 27th, 04, 12:36 AM
Doesn't matter what size engine you have, as long as it is safe tech will let you race. Once you break into the 11's a few times they will probably tell you no more runs. Just run one or 2 3/4 passes then open it up.

mr 4 speed
Feb 27th, 04, 8:35 AM
What Bob said..my mistake,I wouldn't "lie" about the displacement on the tech sheet

Feb 28th, 04, 12:25 AM
Whats with the 12" of rubber fuel line? I think I have more. Dont even remember everythign is a blur

Motor Martyr
Feb 28th, 04, 1:18 AM
The limit is 12" of rubber line in the fuel system, to keep from having people run excessive amounts of rubber line, which could decide it wants to come off the steel line its attached to.

I wouldnt worry about the ET limit as of yet, you dont have any ET's on it, you may have enough traction problems to keep you out of the 11's....but run a high MPH.

BTW, so far plans are to head to Etown, if Atco decides to use LED bulbs on sunday, then the plans will change (Etown is going to be a busy place sunday, with the upcoming forcast).

I'll keep you guys posted and have the final say on the matter tomorrow afternoon.

If i'm there i'll be pitted in the back of the pits (return road side), and towards the fence.

Ed's heading to Atco, last minute change of mind. I'll be doing the same. I have a feeling englishtown is going to be packed with street cars.
I suggest you also head to Atco, its about 1 hour and 15-20 minutes down the road from englishtown.
If you want to go, its very easy to get to, just a long ride from CT.

Feb 29th, 04, 5:48 AM
Brian,we're all ready to go..heading out at 6:30AM this morning
Driving to etown is enough drama for me,let alone driving to Atco..now,driving to LVD is a beautiful non dramatic ride..but the track isn't the best..anyway,best of luck to you guys today graemlins/thumbsup.gif

And good luck to you! Hope the "vs test" puts that ride easily into the 12s. That's a well engineered ride for sure. Proof positive that the "smaller" is better rule, rules in a pure 'stock' street vehicle.

Give 'er hell man! graemlins/thumbsup.gif

Chris, sorry we couldnt meet you at englishtown, but Atco was packed, so i'd imagine englishtown was bursting at the seems with cars.

I took some a few pictures, and ed took some pictures of me racing, i'll post them in a minute.

Track wasnt hooking very well for many of the cars, as there were a ton of street cars.

But the weather was fantastic, with exception to a crosswind, and i think everyone had a good time!

I know how much fun driving in Joisey can be ;) , let us know how you did!

Bob West
Feb 29th, 04, 5:26 PM
How did Ed do? I imagine he had trouble hooking if anyone did. ;)

Motor Martyr
Feb 29th, 04, 5:34 PM
spun on both time trials, and then hook and spun 1st round. Rick spun as well.
Most of the faster cars were having traction problems.
My car, of course, was dead hooking every pass, but i wasnt in the gamblers race.
