Anyone running one these things? A friend with a stock L-72 in his Camaro (compression dropped to 9.8to1) Wants to change the stock cam for one that idles nastier without fly cutting the pistons. Making more power is not really the issue it will almost turn the tires at will. Comp says the 294S won't clear. I believe them so it looks like the 282 (he wants a solid).

I have this cam in my 67 SS with the stock 396 style closed chamber dome pistons and had plenty of room. Still you should check first but I had about 1/4 inch on the exhaust and over 1/8 on the intake with 0 lash(if I remember correctly) It was no where close to needing to actually break out the calipers to measure it!

How does it idle?

It sounds pretty wicked on the 396 especially since I haven't installed the mufflers yet.
My neighbors don't appreciate it as much as I do.
