Hello, Y'all, Well guess where I found the build sheet on my 69SS elky? It was all scrunched up under the jute-like carpet pad underneath the accelerator. been sitting there for 35 years I suppose. I had to soak it in water for a day just to get it to unfold all the scrunches. Much of the data is totally unreadable by having been stained to rust by contact with the floorboard. I had to sandwhich the jigsaw puzzle of tatters between two pieces of glass! BUT the important stuff is there, Fremont, The VIN and L35 and M20!!! Yeaaaaa, it's not a clone, Da real McCoy!!!

Now for the wierd stuff. Anyone know what "P64 Dual (?indiscernable)" codes for? It may be P6(?). I checked the reference here and at Cstuff. Nada. I'm wondering if it could possibly have been for dual-ly hubs. The P codes pertain to tire/rims. The story from the son of the original owner is that his dad custom ordered the SS and put a fifth wheel in the bed. (The holes are still there) I bought the car 20 years ago and that's when he gave me the story. I was just dazzled by the car which was in "looker shape" excepting the bed and at that time was not really a gearhead so only half understood all he said. Obviously it wasn't a dually when I bought it. But neither anymore a 5th wheel, though obviously one had been there earlier. It makes sense for it to have possibly been a dually for the hitching plate. It also has HD suspension, Air shocks and coil-overs. No T-bars, (yet) and it's so stiff back there that if I have nothing in the bed and get too aggressive she crow hops 2 or 3 times.

Also the axle is stamped "CI 08 73
06 7B". The CI corresponds to a 3.73 Posi at Cstuff BUT the kid told me it was " a 3.92 set, the next shorter than the 4.11" (as he called the 4.10 I guess) in it that his dad also custom ordered. In the older edition Haynes manual from about 15-20 years ago which used to be at the library but is now long gone. It also showed the CI 08 code as being a 3.92. Anyone have a copy of that old Haynes for Chevelle/Elkys, to confirm?

Unfortunately on the build sheet the "G" codes for the axle are indiscernable but there are two itemizations there where the word "axle" is all that is discernable, directly under another lost code with the description "rear" still readable. Box 13 "frt. spring" has "GW" or "SW"; box 14 "Rear Spring" has code "BR"; Box 15 (can't read title of this one) has code "TA"; Box 29 (can't read) has code "CI-7"; Box 30 "Alter" has code "CW" if any of those help at all.

What are your esteemed thoughts? Thanks BD

Maybe it's "PX4" which would be a G70-14 red stripe tire. Box 29 is for the axle code, and that is a 3.73 posi from my books. Box 15 is front shocks.

a 3.92 setNo such ratio in a A-Body, matter of fact I can find no option for a 3.92 in any Chevy car thru 1972. 2.92 yes

CI is a 3.73 ratio.

P64 does not appear to be a valid RPO code
