Hi every one. I have a 355 that is around 450hp.
I have a 66 chevelle undergoing an extream makeover.

I want to Back half the frame with a 4link system and a fabricated ford 9" with 4.11 gears.
I want to use 22" wide, 33" dia. tires on 15"x15" rims. I want to use a streetfighter th400 with a 2800 stall converter. Line lock. Jegsters frontend kit. Fiberglass frontend. I want to box the frame and cross brace it where I can.

What do you guys (and ladies) think of this set up? Any sujestions or coments? I plan to race/show/cruise around town. I would trailer it to any where more than 45 mins. away.

22" wide tires are going to slow the car down a whole bunch. If you are more interested in looks, fine, but with the power you have a 9" slick will 1/4 much faster.

It wont be Twin Turbo for about 2 or 3 years after the car is done. So, you saying the rotating mass will be to much with the 22" tires?
I want it more for looks, but I don't want it to slow my car down too much.

Not to mention a whole lot of drag. That's the reason for using skinnys on the front. You want the smallest tire that will do the job. Anything more is just excess baggage.

I don't know if you'd want to do it, but you could setup a narrower tire to use just for draging

I agree with Pat. My 1st impression was that the tires are way to big. I have a 490hp 355 in my chevelle with a 4.10 gear. I am running 28" slicks and thought I needed more gear. I just replaced my street tires and put some 26.7" tall tires on. I needed more gear. Boy, does this thing rev up now! My next slicks will be 26" or I'm changing gears. Since you're trailering anyway, Id forget about a 33" tall tire, not to mention the extreme width Otherwise... good luck with your project!

4.11 gears and 33" tall tires, plus only a 2800 stall, spells P-I-G out of the hole. a 355 that makes 450hp probably needs a 3500 convertor, 4.11 gears, and a 26-28" tall x 9" wide tire. i would not backhalf the car unless it is absolutely necessary. how much power you talking with the turbo set up? how hard is it going to "hit" out of the hole? i know guys that are over 1000hp and they are hooking on stock style suspension and true 10.5" slicks.

I hadn't even looked at the diameter, just the width. 4.11's and 33" tires are equal to a 28" tire and 3.48 gears.
