Does anyone know if there is any sound or preformance differance between the 40 series Street and Strip and the Super 40 Delta flow series? The street strip if more in my price range right now.

I'm running the Delta 40's on my '67 Nova right now and love the sound.They're much milder at idle and cruise than the regular 40's.I believe Flowmaster claims better flow with the delta over the original 40.I was running Dynomax Super Turbos,but after hours of installation,getting the exhaust just right,within a day or two,I traced an annoying rattle to a loose baffle in the muffler graemlins/angry.gif .I had the Deltas from another project('68 SS-396),so I installed them out of convenience.If you're on a budget,I'd try the $15 Summit Turbos,as I've heard nothing but good reviews on them.If I wouldn't have had the Deltas,I would have used the Summit muffs.The regular 40's do sound good though,if you like it LOUD :eek: . I think the normal 40's are louder. At least that's what I've heard. I have a set w/ dumps on my 350 sounds great. Loud under hard acceleration but pretty quiet at cruise. Maybe I don't understand what quiet means anymore.

I believe the Super 40s outflow conventional 40s. Also, the Super 40s are said to be a bit deeper in tone, but with the same 40-series sound. Probably a little bit quieter as well, since they use the Delta Flow technology. The people i have talked to that have used the slightly higher pitched regular 40s and the slightly deeper Super 40s have all seemed to really like the Supers better sound wise. I haven't heard it first hand, but it's said to be more muscular, and doesn't have the resonance at certain speeds that are characteristic to the regular 40s. Hope this helps. :cool:

Well, the guy I talked to at Flowmaster said he couldn't tell any differance. I talked to two diferant guys there and they sure are pushing the higher priced Delta. I may just go with a Dynomax glasspack to replace my Cherry Bomb's. I like it loud! graemlins/clonk.gif

Y dont u just get some "PURPLE HORNIES" for summit. 3inch turndowns they are like 32 bucks a peice and posally LOUD AND WITH A RUMBLE tongue.gif :D
