Can anyone share their experiences with the TKO 600 behind a big block making decent power?
- How do they shift under WOT?
- Anyone run at the track with em on sticky tires?
- What are you running for clutch/P-Plate?
Going back to stick and want a trans that can handle my 454 that churns out 600hp and 550 ft lbs.
Thanks in advance,
Chris

This is right up my alley.
I have totally abused my TKO 600. I have power shifted, clutch dumped, tried to rip the shifter out of the floor. I have hit reverse at 70 MPH on accident, I have shifted without depressing the clutch pedal.
I have shifted SO HARD that I got a blood blister on my hand.
I can shift this thing at the track so fast that the synchros cant keep up... you can hear the crunch in every gear.
Sticky tires? No problem. I have ET Streets. The clutch burned to a crisp before the tranny even said 'uncle'.
I assure you that before I am done I will have had the wheels up and running 11s and taken it on the Hot Rod Power Tour.
Shifting under WOT is dependent on the RPMs. For me, the higher the RPM the more difficult it has become to get it just right.
My new Clutch setup is going to be a Center Force DFX with a billet steel flywheel. If you can run something in the 11" range then the Dual Friction is very nice too.

I am running a mcleod 11" with Mcleod clutch.
The answer is yes you can beat on them. There is a guy here with a corvette with 1400 rwhp through a tremec. I havent heard of one breaking yet actually. Mine has no problems shifting at 6k under full throttle. Many guys are running slicks, this thing can take a beating.
