: Should I send back the Comp Cams 11-678-5 (xs282-s)cam ?
HPseeker Mar 14th, 04, 1:32 PM I call Summit and ask them about the Lunati 402A3-LUN and they said it wasn't in stock and recomended the COMP CAMS 11-678-5 XS-282S it is almost the same grind ,I told the seller only "that cam sure sounds like the Lunati's cam ",and I recived yesterday ,I thouth it was the Lunati cam ,but surprise it was the COMP 11-678-5 ,SHOULD I KEEP IT ,I really want to go to the track next Saturday . I sure want to installed !
BUT AS UD HAROLD SAID ,
"NOT ALL 110lbs. BLONDES ARE THE SAME "
With this Comp Cams or the Lunati cam what intake should I use the RPM AIR GAP DUAL PLANE OR THE VICTOR -454-TD SINGLE PLANE ?
Rmchevelle Mar 14th, 04, 2:27 PM I don't think Summit STOCKS the UD/Lunati cams. You have to place your order and WAIT.
I think if you REALLY want one of Harold's cams you are going to have to bite the bullet and send the Comp cam back and maybe order DIRECT from Lunati in order to get the quickest delivery.

BB485 Mar 14th, 04, 3:18 PM I'd put that cam in and run it. If it's similiar the only way you might notice a differance is on an engine dyno, maybe 10hp who knows. If you want more top end go open plenium.
Silver69Camaro Mar 14th, 04, 4:31 PM I'd send it back and wait. Along the road some time you're probably gonna wish you had the UD cam in there. It would be a total pain in the butt to change cams again later. You're probably not going to die soon, you can always race another day.
Bob West Mar 14th, 04, 5:29 PM 10 bucks says he puts it in. His post a week or so ago, asking about heads,,,he couldnt wait,,,installed what he had,but I guess when you live in Puerto Rico, it takes a while for parts and services.
HPseeker Mar 14th, 04, 6:51 PM ROBERT ,you sure know went someone misses his BIG BLOCK :D . I sure want to try it . what intake ,BB485 said to run the big 3500-8500rpm open plenum
JRS70LS5 Mar 14th, 04, 7:04 PM I've had my cam from UdHarold for two years and if it ever wear's out I'm going to get another one! graemlins/thumbsup.gif
Bob West Mar 14th, 04, 7:29 PM I like the dual plane, if you're going to spray it,use the single plane.
bigjimzlll Mar 14th, 04, 8:39 PM im running that cam in my 355....makes great power..sounds mean...I have 11.8-1 CR though...whats your CR?
DougBernhardt Mar 14th, 04, 10:44 PM I'm running that exact cam in my 454. I've had great luck bracket racing with it. Made 525hp/528tq on the dyno in my 9.6/1 motor with the performer RPM and those "worthless" rect port heads :D
Currently runs 11.30's at 118 with that combo.
Bob West Mar 14th, 04, 11:02 PM and those "worthless" rect port heads I don't believe anyone has EVER said they're "worthless" Doug. Whats the rest of your combo?
HPseeker Mar 14th, 04, 11:03 PM I lowered the compression with the new rect port heads I took cc and they are 117cc ,now I got 10:0:1 to 9:9:1 ,with this cam it is not wise to run a high compression that was what I was told ,
Doug those are great #s I wish I can make a close e/t ,I was looking at the Comp Cams site but they donot got any compression recomendation to this cam , it can be used in a low compression motor.
HPseeker Mar 14th, 04, 11:11 PM Doug ,I sure want to see your engine combo .
ROBERT you are close to win your 10 bucks .

Bob, I admit I was being a little dramatic with the "worthless" comment. Basically I got a deal on them that I couldn't refuse. Besides, they'll work good on that 540 I build once all the kids are in school and the wife goes back to work!
