First of all, thanks for reading. Anyways, I am looking at one of two buildups for next spring. I will list one of the potentials now, and the other at a later time. Its a 75 vega and I cant say the exact weight cause there is still a lot of changes to the chassis to be done, but it should be between 2700-3000lbs. Anyways, here is the buildup in mind. The motor will be a 355 chevy with roughly 9.8:1 compresssion, eddy performer rpm intake, 650-700cfm carb, most likely 1 3/4 long tube headers, and either AFR, Canfield, Or Brodix race rite aluminum heads between 180 and 195cc ports(most likely 180cc but I may go for the larger 195 or 200cc port to allow more room for possible future mods). I have also considered a pro topline iron head in the same 180-200cc category. I plan on a 3.55 gear (3.73 at most) and about 2800rpm of stall speed(I could go a little higher on the converter if necessary, but Id like to keep somewhat in that range). In the end, I want descent street manners cause I plan to drive it quite often, yet its gotta perform well and I expect consistent 12 second passes. The cam in mind is one of your voodo hydraulic camshafts. Its the one you compared to the XE 268 in an earlier post which I beleive was 227/231 degrees duration at .050 and .484/.504 lift?(I think thats the right valve lift, cant remember now). Anyways, what do you think? Is this a descent cam for the overall setup, or do you have a better cam in your line that will do the job with my particular setup. I think in my light car, with good traction that particular setup should get me real close to(or possibly) better than my expectations, but Id like to hear what you have to say cause I have a suspicion that you may know your camshafts better than I ;) Thanks again.
