I know some of you out there may not like this but I have a 72 convertable and am thinking of recovering my seats in cloth with the correct stitching pattern. Has anyone done this before? Good idea or bad and also does anyone offer cloth seat coverings already stitched and ready to be put on likt the originals from pui?

Well, Year One has them, but they are not cheap, around 500 bucks or so for the hardtop models

It is your car and if you like the comfort of cloth, go for it. Any upholstery shop should be able to do what you want. I had mine done (front &rear) for $325. they did the sides in vinyl and the seat portions in cloth. That price may be lower than your locals because I live in a very low-wage area.
