I'm building a 70 chevelle it was a small block car and I'm putting a big block in... most likely on the small block frame mounts... the engine is a 496 with roller rockers and need taller than stock valve covers to clear rockers.. but also needs to clear power brakes(booster)
any Ideas??? graemlins/clonk.gif

I dont know what you want to spend, but I had Billet Fabrication in California build mine. He will custom make any height you want. I think I made mine 3.5 inches tall. I have the same situation with the power booster and roller rockers. I had him also put in the breather grommet. I have cheap breathers so I also had to weld in an oil baffle to keep the oil from coming out. Positive sealing breathers are available.
Very high quality covers. A little pricey but worth it. Mine ended up at $350 to the door.
Heres the website if interested. Valve Covers (http://www.billetfab.com/)

I wanted the "stealth" look on my 489 and wanted to retain the stock chrome valve covers. I'm running Comp Pro Magnum roller rockers with a 1/2" thick gasket with no clearance issues at all.

I did this before GM came out with the their VC on the 572 monsters.

Hey 1hot67,

That's a beautiful looking Engine Compartment graemlins/thumbsup.gif

I went with Billet Specialities covers and painted the Heart Beat of America engraving, Red, White & Blue

Bowtie...I saw a post somewhere in here (not sure of category) of a conversion to a smaller diameter booster that allowed tall valve covers on a big block. The post was within the past 2-3 days.

Gaz Thanks, Gaz. I have a ton of time in that engine bay.

I too considered the Billet Specialties VC. They make a great product.

BTW, I've always loved your black 69 'velle. My first Chevelle was a green 69 (350, TH350) with a vinyl top. Seeing yours brings back memories (although yours is much nicer) and perhaps I'll buy another 69 one day.
