The competion shifter will fit without any problems. You just need to get the handle that has the right bends.

depends on if it is the correct Hurst shifter and installation kit.
The 68-72 Chevelle shifter body has a "L" shape offset about 2 1/2 inches

that sucks...mine comp plus doesnt hanve the bend in it like the pic in the link. So I 'm guessing the shift rods that are already on the transmission arent going to owrk either??or will they work for me?? they dont have the same bends as the repo ones I have looked at...any info would be appreciated.

are you converting a column shift car?
and is it important for it to be original?
if originality isn't an issue, and you need to cut a hole anyways and don't have a console to deal with, then use what you've got and cut a hole in the floor to make it work. just put a good shifter boot over the hole and buy a handle with the proper bends to get the ball where you want it, and call it good.

I have brand new Hurst Indy shifter handle, still in the shrink wrap package. It has the L shaped off set at the bottom. E-mail me if you want it.

if you can find the Hurst part numbers on each part (arms, rods, mount bracket) you can post them or check the Hurst listing to see if they are correct for the 69-72 installation kit. (68 has different installation kit)
The shifter and installation kit are sold seperatly so your install kit may be correct

There is no console , and it doesnt need to be correct...thats good to hear
that the linkage will work. can I just buy a munice shifter handle from ground up??
