My opinion for your deal,, AFR 357 hands down ;)
Same price as the 335, much better match for your engine.
BTW, with the AFR you do not need 10 degrees of spread unless you are planning nitrous, they have an outstanding exhaust port.
If you send me an email I can probably save you a few dollars on either the AFR or Brodix ;)
sbchevy Jul 6th, 04, 11:51 PM MIKE ILL PROBALLY GIVE YOU A CALL IN THE NEXT DAY OR TWO
BUT WHY DO YOU LIKE THE LARGER HEAD OVER THE SMALLER HEAD
THE CAR IS STILL PRETTY HEAVY?

572 inches, 13.5 compression & a cam that will make power easily to 8000+ will love a big port.
It will make more power :D
chevy_69_chevelle Jul 7th, 04, 3:18 PM I would do one of these:
The DART 345 heads and then have them professionally ported.
The DART 355 CNC heads and then bolt them on.
I really like the dart heads, and have talked to many Super Comp racers and they all have said that DART is the way to go.
chevydog66 Jul 7th, 04, 4:14 PM I recommend Dart. Tony Mcafee is the man when it comes to Dart heads. He races IHRA, and has worked for John Lingenfelter. I could give you his # at work if you are interested.
yanniz Jul 7th, 04, 6:37 PM Dart 355s, give Reher Morrison a call or look at e-bay. Got mine there, brand new, with the Manley spring upgrade capable of .880 lift, for less than $2700..
Good luck.
ejrempel Jul 11th, 04, 11:44 PM Don't spend a damn dime on porting unless you do it yourself. Buy the flow you need upfront. Way cheaper. You've been warned.
sbchevy Jul 12th, 04, 2:23 AM i am leaning towards the 335 cnc
i just talked to a guy on saturday with a 572 357 afrs and was not happy he said he wished he went with brodix but did not specify why or anything his ride was a 2000lb red with him in it 7.90 et on the motor the motor was a complete long block from scott shafiroff i think he was thinking it should have run better numbers but did not specify how much better
a another guy i race with has 100 over 454 with the plain jane 325 darts in a 2800 lb malibu and runs 9.7-9.8s and he is happy with them
plus i do not think there is a shaft rocker system out yet for the afrs is there
66rat Jul 12th, 04, 4:02 AM sbchevy, Yes, they do have shaft rockers for the AFR's as well as all the other heads. Personally I'm with Mike on the AFR heads. They flow better numbers than any conventional head currently on the market. As for the runner size, I can't help you there. You are running a big inch motor, so you need a big flowing head, just how big I don't know. FYI, I'm in the building stages, but I'm running 357 cnc heads on a procharged 540. Another FYI, to get the great intake to exhaust flow ratio that the AFR's are noted for you must run a tulip shaped exhaust valve. Hope this helps.
Rob
Wolfplace Jul 12th, 04, 12:04 PM Just for info Tony puts the tulip exhaust valve in all AFR heads standard from 325 & up.
They are all excellent heads but I feel the AFR is the best & most efficient conventional out of the box head going at this time.
As for size, I think the 357AFR or 355BB2 would be better but suggest you call AFR & talk to Tony & call Brodix & talk to either of the Jeff's.
Tell any of them I said to give them a call & see what they think regarding port size on your engine rather than relying on other racers who may or may not have their combinations optimized.
It's a pretty good sized investment so you probably don't want to do it twice :D
Then give me a hollar & I will see what I can do ;)
