I'm thinking of moving from the Sportsman class to the Street class (12.00 or slower) in the Summit Series. The main reason is, I'm rather tired of being one of the slower cars in the class (11.6X's). I need new tires this year and am thinking about using a DOT tire rather then slicks (I'm thinking Mickey's ET Streets, I have no desire to experiment with radials), and re-installing the exhaust system. I need to slow the car to run in the low 12's, preferably 12.0X-12.1X. However, I'd like to run close to the same mph, around 114 mph. I have a B&M 2000 stall converter I can replace the 3700 A-1 converter with that I'm now using, in the hopes that ET will go up but mph won't drop.
So here is what I'm thinking:
ET Streets
Exhaust system with Dynomax Ultraflows
2000 rpm stall
Perhaps changing the shift point from 7000 to 6000 rpm, although this could lower the mph.
I still want to be able to make a hard full throttle launch and not have to feather the throttle. I find it very hard to be consistent doing that.
Car specs:
355
Sportsman II heads 63cc, 200cc
10.45:CR
296/305, 246/253, 108 LSA, 102.5 ICL 296AH-8 Comp Cam
456 gears, Locker
SSM lift bars with 1" sway bar
Moroso front springs, no front sway bar
CE adjustable shocks front and rear
I'm also thinking that a non-electronic throttle stop might be a good way to go but it will probably cost me MPH. Changing gears isn't likely because of the cost.
Any other ideas?
