...yep. I bought a set from OPGI. I wanted a rubber mat that fit good. I looked at all the aftermarket mats, including the carpet style etc. In the end, the ones with the bow-tie logo made to match the OE mats for that year, were the ones I liked best. It just took awhile to get used to the idea of paying that much for a set of FLOOR MATS!!.

It's ironic that, when I first got this car 4 years ago, it didn't have the OE steering wheel and after seeing how much they wanted for one, I decided to go with a more modern look and not do the "resto" thing. "Who'd be stupid enough to pay that much for a steering wheel ?" I said. Apparently, the same people who buy floormats, that's who.

I'm glad I got them tho. They fit nice and are well made. They're made to fit several different vehicles so they do require a little trimming. I did mine with a box cutter. If you're looking at these, you won't be disappointed. Just poorer.

Part of the appreciation of these old cars is when you see original equipment in great shape that hasn't succumbed to the 'practicalities' of using cheaper replacement parts. It shows dedication to go for the OEM or stock parts when often times improved or cheaper parts are available. It is a way of showing appreciation for what these cars were. There were a lot a Chevelles made and there is room for restorations, modifications, customizations and just nasty strip-ready configurations. In my opinion that in part is what make the Chevelle comunity so vast, so varied and so interesting.

I would love to get a set of the proper bowtie mats for my stock '67, but in Canada they were dealer-installed and came with a Maple Leaf logo superimposed with a GM logo. Apparently they were made by a company called Dominion Rubber right here in Toronto. I can't find a listing for them anymore, but it certainly would be an eye-opener to have a set (I know, rubber mats, whooppee!)

Be thankfull you don't have red interior.

Repops are dark Burgendy.

I picked up an original set in a '68 in a junkyard 13 years ago. I bought the whole interior from that car. The mays show some wear, but they really held up great after all those years!

I think you made a good choice on the floormats. I will also go with the same ones you have, in spite of my car being a pro-street car and being more of a custom than an original. Some items (such as the floormats) I love the look of and will go with the original look even if everything else isn't original.

I found a set of originals in the original boxes on ebay a few months back for $70. Sometimes you can still find a good deal on there.
