About how long would it take to get the oil pumping out of the push rods and out of the rockers after the motor has been sitting for a month? I had a rocker nut come loose and figured since I'v had this set of rollers for a few years now was a good time to install them. I changed the studs and purchased a new set of poly locks. I adjusted the valves for start up and started the motor but after 30 seconds I still had no oil. Everything was fine before. My oil gage showed 70 lbs of pressure. I did pour oil down on the rockers and used assembly lube on the tips of the push rods and valve stems.
Thanks for your tips

No Oil----- " Houston we have a problem " I had a similar problem with a 396. After a few day trying to GUESS what was going on. Pulled the engine back out and you may not believe this, So I will explain.
The oil filter by-pass spring has a little piece of fiber or mica that is staked by 4 punch marks, This little piece of round fiber board or mica 3/8" in Dia. got loose and went up into the oil gallery that oils the top end of the engine. Bottom end and gauge 70 lbs. Top end nothing!!!!!
Got the little piece out, NOW a lot of oil. If I live for another 300 years, Chances are this will not happen to me again. I hope this is not your problem. I had to pull all the pipe plugs and look into the tiny little holes, Also I had to be sure while fishing it out, Dont let it get down into the oil gallery for the mains. I still have the spring and the little piece of 3/8" round fiber board in a jar in the garage.
After it is running and I tell folks what the problem was, Many , Many guys said that, THAT couldnt happen!!!!!!!!!!!!!

you sure the assembly lube you put on the pushrods aren't clogging the holes?
