Looking to replace leaking original style GM fuel pump. Any suggestions on Edelbrook or Carter mechanical fuel pumps for street driven 454-360hp BB?
How easy is the replacement process?

I'd run a Carter 172gph when my AC goes. There are a few threads on how to rig it, since it uses -an fittings. Mint pump, supports an 11-second ride.

My Chevelle is only driven to local shows and rallies. Not looking for anything more than 110 gph.

If you have a basically stock 454,a factory replacement pump will be more than fine, even a $25 Borg-Warner stock replacement can handle the job.Replacement is easy as 2 bolts,a gasket and 2 fuel lines..you just need to keep the fuel pump pushrod from falling out..a little grease will help that.About a 10-15 minute job in my experience.

Mr. 4-Speed:
Thanks. It's a stock 454 engine...nothing fancy.
What do you mean by grease helping keep the push rod in?

When you pull the old fuel pump off and the rod falls out, clean it off, coat with a little grease and slide back up into it's hole in the block. The gease will keep it in while replacing the pump. The only possible other issue is that you may have to bump the engine over a couple of times to make the pump pushrod go into the block enough to make putting the pump bolts back in easier. You don't want to only catch one or two threads and pull the pump on, you want to get the bolts well started in.

Go to Carquest and get a genuine AC pump. Sorry, in PERFORMANCE, I assume you wanted something more than stock.
