66dgress Oct 3rd, 07, 3:05 PM Nice !! humm not sure now I want to go thru the re-painting inside....
1966_L78 Oct 3rd, 07, 3:22 PM Not sure how "Black" interior would look with the blue dash/door tops...
My convertible was Marina Blue, but I chose to do "White" interior.
Instead of the "factory" White (with Black carpet and dash), I painted the door tops and dash with the exterior Marina Blue (like you did)... Added Blue carpet and dash pad (for Bright Blue interior). I had the seat belts restored in Blue.
I was NOT worried about being 100% correct. I like the "stock" look, but liked having a unique color scheme...
For MY interior, I did have to special order the door panels in an all-White configuration (factory "white panels had "Black" bottoms). No extra charge, just had to wait a few weeks. I think I ordered them through James Hinshaw...

For some reason, the carpet looks dirty in the picture... In person, it looked bright, alot like Seb's (just with white seats/panels and console)...
In about 12 years of having the White interior, I only really did one thorough cleaning (lightly scrubbed the seats with a tooth brush)... It did NOT get that dirty (I hear people always mention that white interior gets dirty easy). For 8+ years (3 of those in a car port), I didn't even have a top, and still the white seats and panels stayed clean...
Might have some more pictures somewhere...
I really like the Bright Blue interior, but I really wanted White... At the time, I "Hated" black...
CT Mark Oct 3rd, 07, 4:15 PM Hey Seb, I thought your car had buckets? Did it originally? If it was bench, can you tell me what color the vent pull knobs are?
Thanks!
Jerry Briggs Oct 3rd, 07, 4:16 PM Black interior in 66-67 is all black. Why change? The blue with the marina blue exterior is just beautiful. Just look at Seb's car. Makes you want to just hug on it, caress the seats, run your fingertips over the shifter, call it sexy names - Hummm guess I really like the blue/blue.
SebJr Oct 3rd, 07, 4:21 PM Hey Seb, I thought your car had buckets? Did it originally? If it was bench, can you tell me what color the vent pull knobs are?

Original benchseat car:yes:....that I bought with buckets in it and the benchseat shipped up in the back seat.
I wanna say black and I'm pretty sure the originals are still on there, will check tonight and let you know.
I use them all the time too , you'd think I'd know.:o ;)

Keep your thoughts about my cars interior to yourself please !
People will talk .:D

Thanks Seb. That supports my hypothesis. :hurray: That is, if a car had no interior trim options, it got black vent pull handles...regardless of interior color. I've proved this on about 5 cars now....including mine. ;) Thanks again.
Bunz-T Oct 3rd, 07, 5:02 PM Keep the blue/blue. As you can see I am a little bit biased.

My convertible was originally Aztec bronze with the 2-tone Fawn interior, Bench seat, and the vent pull knobs were black...
66dgress Oct 3rd, 07, 7:01 PM wow, was pretty much going with blue/black till all the posts ...thanks... looks like now I have to return the black dash pad :) and exchange for bright blue..
SebJr Oct 3rd, 07, 8:44 PM Like I said...... black, and they are definitely the originals:yes:
What is the alternative, plastic chromed?
67shovel Oct 4th, 07, 9:34 AM To answer your first question. yes, if you want a factory looking black interior you should paint the metal parts satin black.
66dgress Oct 4th, 07, 10:11 AM Thanks, if I go blue (which looks like I am) does the dash between pad / window get painted black to cut down on reflection ? Surprised no blue/black pics posted...

No. It gets a slightly darker blue with 0% gloss and a texture additive.

floyd66 Oct 4th, 07, 3:54 PM speaking of blue interior, is there only one shade of blue for the kick panels? I have a pair that look the same as Seb's bright blue. Same for all models with blue int.?
EDIT:
:clonk: should have looked in the parts book first. Still have a question though.
Looks like the only colours available for the "Panel, shroud side finishing plastic" are:
Black, Blue, Blue, Bronze, Fawn, Red
The two blues:
7595325,7595349, RH and LH, is for 131/132/133/135,136 all
7595326,7595350, RH and LH, is for 135/136/138- 17,67
Are they different colours because of special Malibu and SS interior options?
Note: there are two types, A/C and non-A/C
1967s seem to have different colours entirely. i think the vent operator position is different anyways (integral to the panel).

I believe there's bright blue and lite blue.... not 100% sure though.
Also, it's kinda hard to tell in the pic's... but my kick panels are original to the car.... never been painted, and the rest of the interior trim is all new and much brighter than the kick panels are at this time.:(
floyd66 Oct 4th, 07, 4:19 PM thanks Seb, I was editing as you replied. Unfortunatly the parts book just says "blue" for both. picture attached.
consider this thread officially hi-jacked (sorry) :D
New info,
looking in my Beaumont parts book the same part numbers as Chevelle are listed as:
7595325,7595349, RH and LH, is for Dark blue
7595326,7595350, RH and LH, is for Bright Blue
now that I look at them they look darker than Seb's

I'd guess the second set of numbers would be for Bright Blue. I don't think Bright Blue was available On 300 and 300 Deluxe models...
Was Medium Blue (or two-toned) available on SuperSports? Don't know, but in all my years I have never seen one that way...

Only "Bright blue" and "turquoise" interiors available on the SS, not sure what the turquoise looks like. (learned how to spell turquoise correctly Today)
66dgress Oct 4th, 07, 8:28 PM Gives me lots of info THANKS..... would have posted a pic or two today but couldn't dirty... garage expansion in progress. maybe tomorrow. Wow still no blue/black responses ?
66 MYSTERY CHEVELLE Oct 4th, 07, 10:24 PM if i switch to black interior, does all the metal inside go black ?
YES...
but you also mentioned that your current metal was painted exterior color.. it is not supposed to be exterior.. it's a different blue.. shade wise.. gloss wise..but then maybe you are not looking at a 100% correct resto.
Good luck!
Mike
66dgress Oct 5th, 07, 11:25 AM Not at this stage 100% resto as not a numbers matching car anyway... now I wonder if the bright blue will match ... do you have the correct blue #'s for the interior (just in case I want to do it now while there is still time and no glass in it ) ?
thanks
