i have a set of heads that was just rebuilt again and the machinist put in new bronze guides what should the clearence be.........they are looser then the stock cast guides you can feel the difference.........he said they are to be alittle looser then the cast guides since the expand alittle more........under the heat of the head..........he said they will be fine and my journey of loosing guides are over..........well i hope he is right i just spent 315 bucks to have the heads done over for the 5th time..........

I'd look for no more than .003".... stock is supposed to be .0005" - .0015" IIRC, but they don't stay that way for very long.

Run the Teflon seals and you'll have no trouble with oil control at almost any clearance.
