I've got a budget 350 going together with 441 heads. Having 2.02/1.60 valves installed with new guides and hardened exhaust seats and milled, etc. I know there's a lot of power left on the table by not running vortec or aftermarket heads but these 441's have accumulated anough dust in storage over the years that I feel they need to see some use.

My question is, to those that have worked these heads over with good results what should the bowl size end up at 88%? 90%? Any other porting tips specific to this casting? I know this is a favorite casting among the circle track racers limited to stock castings.

sorry, no advice here, other than some words of encouragement... my friend had a 350 with the same heads in his 68 camaro (4.11 gears, AT, hyd FT cam)...and ran 11.6X in the quarter (no n2o either), cant remember the MPH off hand, but it ran very strong... they have potential!!

The throat (seat) should be 90%, open up the bowl, cut the guide down,
lay the short turn back & raise the roof on the intake side while keeping them straight
and flat, eliminate as much of the pushrod punch as you can, unshroud the valves in the
chambers, polish the chambers and exhaust ports, leave the intake runners ruf.
That should keep you busy for a while - on iron heads anyway;)
