: Anybody like Mercedes? (big pictures)
67pete300 Oct 1st, 07, 4:31 PM I am not a huge Mercedes guy myself, but any self-respecting car guy would LOVE this place. If you are ever in Stuttgart (Germany), you need to make the trip to the MB Museum. Next up, Porsche museum!
Talk about a big block! This beauty has a 621 cube straight six that makes 75 hp.

Andy69 Oct 1st, 07, 6:21 PM man who wouldn't like that?
bntyhntr00 Oct 1st, 07, 7:04 PM My father still has a 55 Gullwing that he bought in the early 70's for a price that he won't tell me - but he keeps assuring me that it would be considered "well bought" LMAO
d1_bradley Oct 1st, 07, 7:46 PM I was stationed in Stuttgart in the mid '60s. Porsche assy plant, Benz place great area for car guys (and gals) and all of the sites had tours even back then.
Chevello Oct 1st, 07, 8:46 PM I still think mine was cooler.

For whatever reason, this was one of my favorites. It must be 19 feet long and only a two seater. A 1926 model, it has a 381 cubic inch supercharged straight six that makes 140 hp.

This is a frame from the 300SL gullwing cars. It only weighs 110 lbs and is obviously very stiff. The reason they needed to use the gullwing doors is that the side bars on this frame ran so high across the side of the car, they couldn't use conventional doors. This was in 1952! Cool.

bntyhntr00 Oct 2nd, 07, 12:25 PM I've had the fortune to drive my dads and it is a phenominal car. It was considered to be so ahead of it's time when they first debuted and it is easy to see why. I'm just scared to death of it because I am almost certain he would throw me in a puddle to keep mud off of it...............Hmmmmmmmmmm - couldnt blame him lol
Stikman33 Oct 2nd, 07, 2:39 PM Seriously, i went there myself 4-5 years ago when i was in Germany. That place regardless of your feelings for foreign cars is a monument to cars and technology in general. Tons of neat history and stuff to be seen. I would recommend going there to anyone.
