I need to find a diagram of the steering colmn. I took mine apart to repair the turn signal switch. It seems like there should be something to hold the outer collar up tight. Its the piece that has the diagnal cut that goes from the dash towards the wheel.

Thanks Kirk

I've had the wagon's column apart a couple times...different application but for mine, the gear shift (auto) holds the outer sleeve in place.

Thanks, after more thought I think the white bushing goes in the fire wall and holds the column tight against the wheel if you will. I lost my daylight and started losing my paitence. The whole thing just kind of came apart all at once when it came loose.
Anyone know of a diagram picture to look at? My Chevelle CD doesn't show any details on the column.

Thanks Kirk

Kirk,
I have a hand sketch I made when I took mine apart. I scanned it and can send it to you in an email. My handwriting is barely legible, but it does show an exploded view of the steering column. Let me know if you want it. waweimer@verizon.net
