I'm looking to make my '64 stock "appearing" under the hood, and would like to replace the Torker II on the 283 (too much intake anyway) with a hi-po factory cast-iron (or maybe aluminum) intake. I'm obviously not looking to make 800hp with this thing, but the factory was able to put 300+hp with several SB applications. What are your thoughts for a factory 4-barrel intake for a 283.

Thanks!

I use a intake from a 66/67 300hp 327 Corvette. It is cast iron, Holley Carb and has the oil fill tube.

this may not be the answer your looking for, sorry if it isn't, but i have seen a couple of sleepers in magazines that the owners just grind off the edelbrock or holley or whatever brand names off then paint it chevrolet orange. looks pretty factory to me and you still get an aluminum intake that makes good power!

How about the GM cast iron replica of the older LT-1/Z28 manifold? Genuine GM, Genuine Iron, reasonable performance.

The one I'm running is 3919803. It was used in 1968 for 327 and 350 applications. I think the top H.P. rating engine it was used on was 350 H.P.

It has the oil fill in the front so it will look stock. Like all pre 1970 intakes, you will need the special asbestos gasket/steel shim combo under the carb when using this part # though because it has the exposed heat channel under the carb.

I've got a low mileage 66 300h/327 intake and carb for sale if anyone needs it send me an email. It is complete, cast iron with a Rochester I believe but a holley would work with a 1/2" adapter plate. Bob

The old, 300hp/327, AFB cast-iron intake is a very good stock manifold, imho! It also has the front oil fill tube.

Does anybody know if this one is also used with a Holley b/c I'm not really keeping track of carb. baseplate bolt pattern's

The intake on my car has a "H" for Holley cast on #4 runner. I have seen them with a "C" for carter in the same location. And the one for the 1967 275hp 327 should have a "R" for Roch Q-Jet.
Did any of the 68 & later cars have the Oil fill tube?
