I just checked the numbers on my engine and found that it is a: 3963512....427.......69......2 or 4 bolt 3963512....454.......70-76...2 or 4 bolt. The date code is D 14 70 and it is a 4 bolt block. It is 30 over. Is this worth anything?

Does it have the codes stamped on the front pad?

It has been decked.

That's a shame because that's where all of the value is at besides it being a 4 bolt 427/454 core.

The 512's were used simultaneously in 69 and 70 as a 427 and 454,

the problem being some of the passenger 427 were low horse boat anchors.

the real value is determining LS6 or COPO, or Vette 427/435 HP origins.

This can only be done wit the Assembly date and Suffix stamped on the VIN pad.

Above that, it's only value would be for someone to restamp, (since its casting date is desirable) but 512 cores aren't that rare. (unless it's a 4 bolt) A 4 bolt dated April 70 is likely an LS6 which would be valuable to a restamper.

You have to value as a 4 bolt rebulldable core.

If you do sell it, and it's a 4 bolt, it will likely end up in a numbers matching LS-6 one day. :)

Restamping is lame, and I don't believe a 512 block needs to be restamped to have value over and above other big block castings. Just go and key word search "3963512" over on eBay and you'll see the kind of money these blocks are bringing in various build states. Here's an example of a 4-bolt block all ready to go, that's been decked and has one sleeve...

that would be a 4 month 1970 block which would make it a 454

Which would make it an LS6 if 4 bolt.

And yes, restamping is lame.

But, if it had a CRV Suffix persay, it's value would skyrocket.
