I Wonder If Anyone Can Tell Me Why The Convertible Tops On 70-72 Always Tear On The Drivers Side. I Have Replaced The Top Twice And Each Time A Tear Develops And Ruins The Top. I Also Noted This Same Tear On Similiar Body Styles-ex Olds-cutlass-pontiac-lemans.... Any Help Will Do.... I Am Truely Puzzled By It..

That's a good question, my '69 is torn in the same place, and a few weeks ago I was talking to a guy with a real sweat '68 ragtop about it and he said 'yea, they all tear there', but he didn't know why, either. It would be nice to find out before the top gets replaced.

Hello and welcome William. You will probably get a lot more help if you post this question in the Convertibles or the Restoration section. Good luck.

When I bought my 72 convertible, the previous owner locker herself out of the car so she cut the top to get it unlocked.
