My question: does anyone here know if the front disc calipers from a 1967 camaro are the same as ones of the chevelle from '64-72 chevelles? I want to get my 67 camaro street runable this weekend and have both 66 chevelle and 71 chevelles to "borrow" the front disc calipers from. Thank you if you have any insight into this.

Sincerely,

Mike

the older calipers are have 4 pistons, and the newer pistons have one big piston.
i think they changed for the 69 model year, but it might have been for 68.
if you have the correct brackets, either style will work on your spindles.

If the brakes are stock style, no they will not fit. The smaller sized cars used different calipers. If you had a nova/chevy II the answer would be yes. If it is an aftermrket brake kit, it may work. Certain ones do, others don't depending on manufacture.

1969 was the first year for the single piston caliper for the Chevelles.

except for the caliper change for the 69 model year, the brakes are the same on a 67-69 Camaro, 68-74 Nova, and 64-72 Chevelles. well, only the 67-69 Camaro had the big JL9 Corvette brake option- but they will still bolt to a Chevelle spindle if you had the right mounting brackets.

I thought they always used different style calipers.

Camaro/nova(later, the 73+ chevelles, el caminos, etc...) use
Ac delco part#'s 19140840 and 19140841

Chevelle/el camino/monte carlo use
Ac delco pt#'s 19140835 and 19140834

Am I missing something?

Thanks for the responses. The damaged camaro caliper is a single piston, not the hipo 4 piston ones. I will just pull off a tire and measure on my chevelles. They are stock spindles and rotors. My problem is if a local Napa or such doesn't have them, I could drive to True-Connections(if they aren't out on a swap meet tour) as opposed to waiting a week for Ground Up.

Check how the brake hose is "clocked", also. IIRC, that's the only difference.

You should:D but a possibility. The biggest problem I have here is that most of the parts stores don't have much stock, not like when I was in Los Angeles. I checked my 71 and it is different. My 66 is also different because it's not a GM kit that I added, which I should have remembered.
