Just answered an ad on this rear end. It is a 12 bolt posi out of a 69 with 4:56 gears. It has been sitting in the owners shop for 15 years. $500

I know the owner and the car it was in. I do not need it but feel it is in the money. My thoughts are to try to buy this one and to trade into one that will fit my 67. It will not add one thing, value or performance, to the car I have now but ya"ll understand how it is.

Is your 67 an early build or a late build? The later build 67's had the 68-72 rear. If its an early build, the rear will still fit. The mounts are the same. The only difference is the overall width which is about an inch and a half wider on the 68-72's. You'll just need new wheels with 3/4" less back space.

68-72's are 1 inch wider (half inch on each side).

I don't think its that great of a deal, just okay... I usually see "used" 68-72 12-bolt posi rearends advertised for $500-$900... And the 4.56 gears are kind of undesirable these days... It seems as though even 4.10s aren't too popular (and that rearend will most likely have the 4-series carrier...

Seems most buyers want 3.31-3.73, which means they'll most likely need a new carrier and gears...

Not that you won't find someone to trade a more desirable early rearend, but just not as likely that YOU will benefit from buying this one, unless you want to use it with the 4.56s...
