Here is my new wheel/tire combo for the Chevelle.

Boyd Coddington "Junkyard Dog - Old School Gray"
Front: 18x8 with 4.0" backspacing
Rear: 18x10 with 5.5" backspacing
wheels were around ~$1600/set shipped

Tires are custom modified BFG KDW2, with the red lines added on by Diamond Back Classics.
Front: 245/40-18
Rear: 295/35-18
Tires were around ~$1400/set shipped

The wheel centers are not painted, they appear to be glass bead blasted aluminum and are bare. In direct sunlight, the blasted area sparkles pretty cool. It was getting dark, so these are the best pics I could get for now. The car is factory ride height, and I had to roll the rear fender lips to make sure these tires would not rub. I use an Eastwood fender roller on my cars, works great.

I like it, was thinking of putting 17's on my 66 which will be lowered 2 inches, I believe it will look pretty good after seeing yours. Good job.

Looking good I especially like the red lines on the tires nice touch. I am surprised you even needed to roll your fender lips as many guys are running 315s on lowered 70 and up chevelles without minitubbing. Get that baby down low a little more and it will be looking really nice.

Yeah, it had some room for tire clearance. But, I went ahead and rolled them anyways, since I wouldn't want to damage that redline sidewall. Those redlines cost $100/tire to have installed, so better safe than sorry :)

Tony could you post a side view pic of your car, I'd like to see how the 18's look on it. I'm still debating between 17's and 18's, I'm kinda worried if the 18's look to big. Thanks, Kevin

Hello Kevin,

There is a big carshow tomorrow here in Houston (at Old Town Spring) and I'll snap some better photos of the car.

Nice, I like different, cool idea with the redlines. That front end needs to come down a few inches though.

I agree... Looks really cool, but the front needs to come down a bit, IMO Personally, I'd bring it down just a bit all around...

Looks great, very unique look. Do you think brake dust and the bare centers will be a problem when cleaning?

Very nice wheels and I like the redlines. I agree lower everywhere!

Looks good, but you definitely need to drop that car to prevent that "Donk" look for coming through.

With only 4" of backspacing on those 18x8's,clearances might get kinda snug on the front if you lower it very much. I do like the wheels and redline tires, though.

More pics from this past weekend. The nose has settled back to its normal height, but I do plan on lowering the car too. The car is basically stock except for the wheels.

the height in the back is perfect, drop the front 1 inch and it will be titties
