Thinking of going to a 3310 from a 650dp on my 396. What can I expect?

A lighter feeling pedal when you step on it :D

Thats a tough call, especially on a 396..I've run both (actualy a 650 spreadbore double pumper vs. a 3310) on a 402 with an LS6 cam and I liked the way the 750 vacuum felt, but its all seat of the pants.
Bottom line,I bet the 3310 will do just fine, and it might be faster.Too bad it wasn't a track comparison ;)

4speed will I lose the ability to lay down some rubber because of the "slower" kicking in of the sec?

Just be sure to get the replacement spring kit that allows you to control the rate that the 2ndaries open. Even if I am well past my converter flash point, a sudden press of the throttle is a true Wide Open Throttle experience.

Only place I could see it hurting someone is if they have dead-hooking traction at the track, and are looking for better 60 foots. But if you race for fun, or with street legal tires and a nothing-fancy suspension setup, the 3310 is a great carb. the DP does has a slight A/F tuning advantage, but again, only for those who plan to use that feature on a regular basis.

Hey 4speed -you had told me in an earlier post you ran the stock valve train, does that include the stamped steel rockers too? Thanks again for your help!

Thanks BB- I am just an old fart lookin for a little street fun. No racing - just cruisin and stuff. I like the pics on your site but 4speed gave it to me when I asked about your eddy carb! tongue.gif Does the kit come with the carb or do I need to order it? Hey what is the diff between the down leg boosters being straight or not?

I assume the valve springs just match the cam as reccomended.

The down leg boosters will give you crisper throttle response. And I have no trouble lighting the tires through several gears with a very mild 396 and auto tranny using a 3310.
