I seen this on their web site, it's a 15/40 truck oil.
They advertise .14 zinc but also say it has high detergent properties.
It's only about 12.00 a gal. through Sumitt.

On the surface it looks good to me but i didnt see any Phosphorus in the data sheet (unless i missed it). I only found .14 zinc what is great but from what i understand the Zn & P act togehter as a pkg to provide the best protection for flat tappet cams and its not just the Zn by itself, hence the ZDDP pkg.

I think the 1.1% of sulfated ash listed in the Lucas data sheet may be a replacment for Phosphorus but i am not 100% sure fof that.

But either way it has to be better then std off the shelf oil with not enough ZN or P to do any good for flat tappet cams.

If you want to run diesel oil the rated chevron delo 400 15w-40 still has a good ZDDP pkg in it,costs approx $10 per gal, auto zone/advanced auto/pep boys/etc handle it.

According to the data sheet dated 8/07 on the Chevron site their above mentioned oil has (.12%/1200 ppm phosphorus and .13%/1300 ppm zinc) which is good enough to protect a flat tappet cam unless maybe your running wild spring pressures.

Also,do a search in ebay for " ZDDP " which is an aution for Zn & P additive called ZDDPlus thats made specifically to address this situation.

Thanks for the reply, I not stuck on diesel oil just looking for oil with what we need in one package at a reasonable price.
The mail order ZDDP raises the cost of an oil change 10.00, if we can find good oil for less, I'm for it.

Yea your rite, I think it's more the aggravation of rounding up everything to change the oil.
I was much easier in the old days when ya just went to the store , bought oil, and put it in the motor.
Wait a minute " the old days, that was six months ago".

I'm leaning toward synthetics these days. Synthetics didn't need the zinc 30 years ago to do the job, so they shouldn't need it today. And, I can go to once a year oil changes, so they will mostly pay their way.
