Rick, dialing in his new motor for this season, best ET on this 355" race motor was 10.47, on a slippery track @ over 128 mph. Will be interesting to see the ET's this motor produces over the season

man,your car is clean!
Motor Martyr Mar 1st, 04, 7:03 PM thanks Tracy and Chris, i did have alot of fun, nothing better then being around fast cars and drag racing on a sunny sunday.
Chris let me know next time your plans allow you to head out to englishtown.
Tracy, good luck with the project, picked a nice car, i like the 2nd gen nova's (68-72) nice looking car!
As far as my motor, i'm planning to have the car in to swap drivetrains in april, i'm still collecting small parts for the car now, and dont want to miss any points days in the mean time, with the car apart.

Fellow Racer, Larry Poppas was driving his stocker in the gamblers race. Thats a 305 powered stocker going low 11's with a best 60ft of 1.48!

I'll take a shot of how my project is coming along so far, and post that.
66chevyIISS Mar 1st, 04, 8:56 PM you never posted your times.
427L88 Mar 1st, 04, 9:08 PM Well dragway terror or not, that is a very, very nice Camaro there Bryan. Real "purdy" one indeed! graemlins/thumbsup.gif
Bob West Mar 1st, 04, 9:09 PM Beautiful car Brian. Who is that masked man in the red 68 Chevelle??? ;)
-SS454- Mar 1st, 04, 9:22 PM is that the car that runs 18s? Damn clean indeed, but would be a very ugly sight to watch that ricer infront smoke you.
hoffbug Mar 1st, 04, 9:25 PM Brian.. Wheres your dial in dude?
Motor Martyr Mar 1st, 04, 9:55 PM Tony,
It was actually the winter warm up/gamblers race. I joined in the winter warm up, and just did time shots, i actually didnt know that they were hosting a gamblers race, and didnt think to ask before i signed up.
I'm not typically an atco racer, i usually race at englishtown and spectate at atco during the big money races.
Now that i know whats going on; this coming sunday is another atco gamblers race, in which i will participate if the car isnt apart.
I actually went a best of 17.61 @ 76.6mph.
best light was an .096 which is a .5096 on a .500 tree.
My effort was basically to get some time in on the LED lights, so i'm not new to them during points at Englishtown.
Hehe, the car actually picked up .27 when removing the stock air cleaner, and picked up .15 when shifting at 4500 as apposed to 4000 (thats alot of rpms for a straight 6).
Thanks Gene, i appreciate the compliments.
Rob, he never revieled his identity, but he was also the camera man while i was driving.
SS, my feirce competition was mostly mustangs, one of them was pretty quick running 12.22, and another mid 14's.....although i did tree all of them :D
Soon enough the new motor will be in:

-SS454- Mar 1st, 04, 11:42 PM Correct me if im wrong, but from all the .000 tree's i seen, a .096 would be a .596 on a .500 tree.
That small block looks as nice as the car. And the car is in desprite need of that engine smile.gif The difference is going to be night and day. Have fun.
Motor Martyr Mar 2nd, 04, 12:17 AM True, true, i'm still getting used to this .000 deal.
thanks for the compliments.
kboorman Mar 2nd, 04, 12:28 AM Brian, couldn't help noticing the "@tcnj.edu" in your e-mail address. I'm there now - what dept are you in? Kirk (Gettin' out this semester with a BSME, I hope!)
71454Chevelle Mar 2nd, 04, 5:22 AM Brian, That is a really nice looking Camaro! graemlins/thumbsup.gif
Very CLEAN
hoffbug Mar 2nd, 04, 7:04 AM Brian.. Man that looks like fun. We still have snow on the ground here. No racing till mid April... weather permitting. Get it dialed in with the six. Nothing like putting the high $$$ boys on the trailer with a stock six ;) :D
Motor Martyr Mar 2nd, 04, 12:03 PM thanks tony, i try, lol. Alot of the people around here are tough competition.
Thanks Darren
Kirk,
I'm a mercer student, they sent me to TCNJ for a class last semester.
I was pretty involved last semester, and you may have seen a picture of a newspaper article that me and my camaro were featured in, posted on a few doors.
I'll be back next semester with another class, and i'm doing my last 2 years at TCNJ if all goes as planned.
I'll let you know when i'm heading up to tcnj, and bring the camaro with me.
71454Chevelle Mar 2nd, 04, 1:21 PM Brian,
Do you have that motor in your car now? What is the specs of that motor and drivetrain. What kind of times are you expecting?
Motor Martyr Mar 2nd, 04, 5:45 PM nah, have a ways to go before it's in, shooting for doing it in a month or two.
The picture i put up, is recent as of yesterday night.
I'm not sure what to expect, combo hasnt been tried before, but i'm thinking it'll be a 12.0 car when all is said and done, and i'm finished sorting out the chassis.
385" 9.8:1 compression
sportsman II iron heads, 200cc bowl blend
RPM intake
750 vacuum seconday carb
crower solid cam 242/248 dur .050" 108lsa
ATI 10" converter, TH-350 trans
12 bolt rear 4.10 gear.
It weighs 3125lbs with me in it now
With the small block, it should weigh in at 3300lbs
Tracy Focht Mar 2nd, 04, 7:02 PM hey Brian, what all parts do you need to get her finished?
Motor Martyr Mar 2nd, 04, 7:45 PM well, the trans is getting rebuilt shortly, and a denny's MMC driveshaft will be ordered after i change rears.
Mostly small stuff, GM mini-starter, wire loom kit, MSD wires, ultraflo mufflers, turndowns and hangers, fuel pressure guage, braided line to the oil pressure guage, few more brackets, and a few fittings.
Small stuff mostly, other then the items above.
Before its race ready i need to find a set of weld wheels in 8" wide for slicks.
depending on hood clearance, i might need to buy a cowl hood too, but i'm going to wait and find out.
Rumblin70SS Mar 2nd, 04, 8:16 PM Beautiful cars.............both of them!! ;)
You can always make a pretty car fast but not always a fast car pretty.........I know, my buddie with the quick Mustang has been trying to do it for years!! graemlins/thumbsup.gif
Motor Martyr Mar 2nd, 04, 8:22 PM LOL,
Tony, hopefully i'll be able to head to cecil county towards the end of the year and race with you and the crew in cecil.
Nickel333 Mar 3rd, 04, 12:05 AM Brian....even notice how that "small stuff" adds up to be a whole lot more than you thought? Its allways the nickel and dime stuff that ends up breaking the bank.

With the small block, it should weigh in at 3300lbs Ummm..Dude that is an 11sec combo in my book.
If it doesn't run 11's ya better get Ed to tune it for ya.
Nice looking car,I like'm clean smile.gif
427L88 Mar 3rd, 04, 8:59 AM Brian, mention Team Chevelle or me when you call Denny's. Think he still has a discount for us, free shipping or something.
Motor Martyr Mar 3rd, 04, 11:50 AM Cool, i will mention it.
Thrasher, i agree, but i'm being modest as i dont want to overshoot what i expect with it.
After being dialed in it should be a solid 11 second car, but my class cut-off is 12.00, i want to stay in my class and chase, rather then move up and be chased.
Thanks for the compliments.
Nick, thats always the way, although i keep a running list of exactly what i need to do the job, down to the nuts, bolts, gaskets, ect, i still end up spending more.

Looking forward to it!! I look forward to meeting Ed and seeing his car in action too!! I'm just getting my car together and although it's still a good way off, it should be out by the middle of the season. Good luck and if I can be of any help, please feel free to ask!!
