I know of a 454 BB out of a late 70s early 80s truck, carbuerated. I want to get about 450tq/450hp. And I love the way a BB sounds. Would this motor be worthy of use? Or should i try and find an older block. the truck BB is complete with tranny. Thanks

Just finishing one of these up..used the stock flat top piston bottom end with older,396 closed chamber heads (boosts compression to 9.0 to 1 from stock 8 to 1) added a mild cam, intake and headers
Lots of good info here..do a search

similar to my set up. 1980 454 out of a 1/2 ton. I put large oval port heads on it and bought all the internals and externals new.

Oh I forgot. Don't be an idiot like me and fight for hours trying to get the engine in just to remember that you need a car oil pan a truck one won't fit. Just a heads up.
