What front coil springs are you guys using for drag racing? I have a 72 Monte Carlo Big Block auto., it's a street/strip car with everything on it so it's pretty heavy (4000lbs). I have a 1.65 60 FT and It runs 7.65 1/8 mile and 12.20 1/4, and with 100 HP nos it goes 7.11 and 11.43. But it currently has Hotchkis Handling package front and rear, I need more transfer ! The only problem is moroso front spring rates dont go up enough to support my nose heavy MC (2250lbs). I afraid if I use new big block springs it just want help that much. Any ideas ?

Marty,
Have you tried disconnecting the front swaybar at the track? This should allow more frontend travel. I also read somewhere that you can remove the serations on the dogbones of the upper control arms, but I don't know how safe that is for street driving. You may want to contact Moroso direct to see if they have a spring that they will recommend or possibly make for you. Hopefull someone has had a similar situation and will help out.

Thanks for the reply Bill, I've tried the swaybar in the past with out much success. I drive my car to work atleast 1 day a week and don't want the hassel dealing with the swaybar thing but it may help a little. I'm looking for a more permanent setup. Thanks for the info.

Go with adjustable front shocks. Set them at 90/10 at the track and 50/50 for the street.

I have a 406 SBC and went with the 90/10 front shocks and the front end comes up and stays there. Its especially nice when shifting as the front end dosen't bounce. Regualr drivng around town, they are fine.

Thanks, I guess I could try adjustable shocks first and see what happens, it may be enough. Are Comp. Engineering good enough or do I need the QA1's.
