its called a powervalve blowout protection kit . anyone who can read and owns a drill can install one . just dont drill to dig or to far or youve made the problem worse. without the kit any lil sneeze will blow the valve.

I make my own with a drill bit, a phillips screwdriver, hammer and a check ball. easy. Pull you baseplate off and find your vacume port that corrosponds with the power valve well. Then use a check ball that is slightly larger that the hole. Take a drill bit just larger than the check valve and drill into the top of your base plate about half way this creates a cavity fot the check valve ball to set in. At the bottom of the cavity you'll need a place for the air to pull around the ball so use a phillips screwdriver and hammer it in the hole you've drilled untill it creates a cross shaped indentation below where the check ball sets. drop the ball in the hole and reassemble the carb. If the engine backfires it will throw the ball upwards blocking the vacume port, then the ball drops down again. The engine will pull vacume past the ball through the indintations you've made with the screwdriver. Sounds crude but really it isn't, and it works mint. I just hope I explained it well enough. I haven't had a powervalve ever fail after doing this mod. Bob
