I'm looking for everyones opinion on the best lockup stall converter in the 2400-2800rpm stall range. More specifically for my street/strip car w/3.42 gears, 700R4, weighing 3050lbs dry and using 26" tall tires. Car is setup for autox and road racing...just havn't got around to the manual tranny swap yet.

You will have a hard time finding a GOOD 10" lock-up converter for under $300.

The guys on LS1tech.com seem to like the 10" lock-up TCI street fighter for a "value" converter, but they run around $500-600, I think. I love my Precision Industries 9.5" lock-up in my F*rd daily driver, but it set me back around $700 2 years ago.

I agree. Its hard to find a marginal quality 10 inch lockup converter for an OD tranny for under 300 bucks, definitely much harder to find a good one(if they exist). Sorry I couldnt help more, maybe some of the others will know where to look.

hmmm... ok well if that's the case what should I be looking at minimum? Other than heat is it launches that really kills a converter? I won't be launching the car on slicks at the strip at all nor will I be visiting the strip much really either(couple times at most). Mostly street driving and 5-10 autox events a summer. I'm just not sure how much of a converter I need quality wise...

Been happy with the BTE 10" lockup, lists for $529.95 plus shipping in their catalog, one year warranty on sprag/stator assembly. Can be had for less though...
