I have a stock non-posi 10bolt in my 66, and would like to have something stronger.
Because the 66 12-bolts are getting harder to find, I hope someone can tell me:
1. Will a 67 rearend fit, and if so what has to be changed?
2. What other 12 bolt rears will have the correct width to fit, and how available are the spring mounts/control arm mounts required?
3. Can you make a 10 bolt live with better axles, posi-trac and 3:73 gears behind a 383 with 700R4 trans, with only high performance street use?
Thanks for all your help!!

1. A '67 rear will fit, they are exactly the same width, everything.
2. See #1
3. yes, a 10 bolt can handle some power, just don't put sticky slicks on it. Give the 10 bolt a try with the mods, then if it explodes after a few years, go with the 12 bolt. You never know how much it will take unless you try to break it:D

65,66 and 67 12 bolts will interchange - if you keep the year appropriate springs with the axle housing. The bottom of the springs and the spring perches are different, otherwise all 3 years will bolt into place of the others. 68 up thru 72 will bolt in too, but they are wider and may create fender/tire clearance issues.OLDED

The 8.2 can be built strong enough to handle what you have. A new Eaton posi and a set of good axles will help. As always, proper set up of the gears is very important.
