WHat HP rating would a 70 CE 402 block have been? What cars/HP rating were available in 70?

396/350 was the standard SS engine
396/375 L78 from Sept - Dec.
400/330 (LS3, Malibu 400).

396/375 would have been available throughout the warantee period. Only the ability to order new was discontinued.

assuming it has a 70 casting date, if it is a 4 bolt it was probably a 375hp replacement for a bb chevelle, nova, or pass car . I think the 402 was the std chevelle ss motor in 70 at 350hp, also used in impala & novas, however there was a 265HP 402 that went in to some passenger cars. If a 2 bolt replacement it could have been a warrenty for either the 265hp pass or the 350hp ss Chevelle or various 71 and earlier impala and novas.

I have a 1974 CE replacement in my 70 Chevelle SS, what H.P. rating would it have?

RichardIf it's a 402 it'd have the same basic rating as the engine it replaced, 350hp assuming compression ratio remained the same on later replacement blocks.
