I finally found a cancel cam for a non-tilt 68 chevelle. I put it in and it doens't contact anything so know way to shut the directionals off. Anyone have a diagram or pic of what it should look like installed. I'm thinking i have a wrong part or something. Also a pic of a 68 non-tilt cancel cam would help to see if i have the right one.
thanks,

This is a scan right out of the 1968 Chevrolet Chassis Service Manual. I hope that there is enough detail in the picture of the cancelling cam to help.

Are you sure both of the little springs are in place? That was the problem in my 67. Went to local parts store, and found them in that area where they carry all of those "Help" items (Thanks to some tips from TC)
Here is a photo I took when I had problems. Notice the spring in the bottom. It's missing on the top

i have the springs in there and i had the cam in the way the manual said but when you turn the wheel the cam and its little prongs sticking out don't contact anything to cancel the directionals. You can turn the cancel cam in a complete circle and it doesn't touch anything. THe pics are a great help guys thanks,

I'm not trying to be facetious but with the turn signal switch in the neutral position, the springs will not touch the lobes on the cancelling cam. You need to actuate the switch for a turn before one or the other springs will contact the cam.

When i do that still the cancel cam doesn't touch anything on the white piece at all. All it does is move and hits nothing. I need to know if the cam hits the spring or a different part of the white piece with the springs.
