Anybody here running a small block and a weiand pro street supercharger? I was wondering what hood was needed, or was the hood cut? Thanks.

Bump for a good question...

I'll be looking forward to a 8-71 myself and that's the one thing that has me puzzled. As my cutting skills aren't the greatest..

The hood will definately need surgery in order to run any Roots style supercharger.

Yup, definately need to do surgery on the hood (or remove it).

I'm running a big block with a 6-71 (and solid mounts) and it sticks way out of where the hood would be.

One of the smaller blowers (can't remember the name/number) sometimes do fit under the hood though. A friend of mine was running one of those (144?) blowers on a SBC with a single carb on a 74 Laguna and it fit nicely under the hood. Quite a sleeper indeed.

Hello,

I am running a B&M 174 supercharger on a 454 mounted with Moroso solid mounts in a 1970. My car has a Cowl Induction hood.

With this setup my carb sits high inside the Cowl Induction hood about an inch from the sheetmetal above the carb.

With a small block, the smaller Weiand supercharger setups will fit however I do not think it would fit under a Malibu flat hood.

Good luck, Joe

A friend here in town runs a weiand 144 on a small block. He has the stock hood. He had to run a holly pro-jection throttle body setup (it's VERY short, a carb did not work) and an itty-bitty drop base aircleaner, and he also notched some of the underhood bracing for clearance, but it now fits. Clean looking install.

When I get back home I can try and dig up a picture for you and post it to let you know what you're in for.
