So I jumped my Chevelle just to get it running and let the battery charge...What I heard after letting it idle for a bit and then revving a little was a high pitched squeal coming from the engine, and it did not soundl like a loose or slipping belt....Any other possible sources I should look to first? I am familiar with caurberated engines I just have never owned a classic car or a V8 so i figured i'd ask...THanks guys!

How about shooting a short video clip of it?? It would be a lot easier to diagnose knowing what it sounds like..

could be a vacuum leak under the carb or seomthing like that. It will kind of 'whistle'
