: Anyone jet hot their exhaust?

Just curious if anyone here has had their entire exhaust sent out to jet hot for coating and if they liked it.
I have a TT alumized system its about 7 years old and its starting to look kinda grotty.
I was thinking of where I could get a stainless steel system, but then I figured why not just get this one coated.
Also what sort of muffler do you think would sound like my offset/offset 20" case dynomax super turbos and is not an aluminized muffler?
The car is back at the painter getting some scratches taken out and the paint rebuffed and another coat of clear put on to get rid of the swirl marks. I'm trying to make the car better for show quality, but I don't know what is killing me at the shows, and I'm starting to think its all the little details I just gloss over.
Also- I see alot of people here use the 70SS tail pipe tips that are designed for 2.5" on a 3" exhaust-- how did you flair the tips?

Thanks,
Matt

I have jet hot coated headers on 2 vehicles and I will never go without!!!!!!!!!!!! They stay cooler and my oldest pair are 4 years and still look great.

Matt, also can simply use hi temp aluminum paint of course. I've seen show winners use that. Of course, they don't drive their cars as much as you or I might. Easy to retouch though.

And it has to be a long dollar to do the whole system.

Jet Hot works great. I did the manifolds on my Chevelle. Very tough stuff. No problems in 5 years. It's basically a ceramic coating.

I've never had good luck with paints. They always seem to flake.

I think he means the whole system.

It probably as much as stainless!

I guess on the stainless system note, anyone using one? where did you get it, so on and so forth? I see alot of stainless for newer cars, but I haven't run into stuff for these ones yet.

Stainless Works makes a full stainless exhaust for our cars. Have your wallet ready.

The Borla is 2.5"?

Matt, IMHO too small for what you're looking to achieve.

Yeah sorry, missed the point. To do the whole system in Jet Hot would most likely cost more than stainless.

Stainless is hard to bend and kinda hard to weld. It would probably be easier to replace the aluminized every 10 years.

How many decades are you really going to live?

I figure I've got about 5-6 more decades, I'm a young whip hehe..
All the stainless I can find is 2.5," which is probably on the small side for a 550-600hp 460.
Assuming I just have to find a way to keep the aluminized stuff clean, can anyone explain how they are expanding the 2.5" 70SS tips to fit over 3 inch tailpipes? This may be a good option for me, that and to straighten out the mufflers ;)

It doesn't hurt to ask a local muffler shop. When I was in PA a few years back I found a place to custom bend some pipes for my '81 Formula Firebird. Yes it costs more than Aluminized, but it's been 7years and they still look great.
