: Your opinions count Bilstein, Koni, or Edelbrock shocks
babbling gearhead Sep 18th, 07, 8:37 PM IM rebuilding my frontend. IM not looking for pro touring but a comfortable yet sporty suspension. No kits as my budget does not include money for hi end kits. I have my brakes and frontend parts picked out and bought already. My question is which shock is better. Does it really make that big of a difference. I have a 68 elcamino all steel frontend with your typical small block. I have cut my new springs one coil for a lower ride. IM not opposed to lowered coil springs if that would improve the ride over a cut spring. Please I have no intentions of dropped spindles. Please give me your thoughts and experiences on shocks and springs. IM not completely against coil overs as long as my stock arms will work. I want to make this next weekends project.
Pate Sep 18th, 07, 9:08 PM I put a vote in for Edelbrocks. I recently installed them on my car and they are awesome. I read everything I could before I finally made my decision. I found that that most people felt they are too soft for a "serious" suspension setup. They are the best mod I have done to date.
Kimberr Sep 18th, 07, 9:23 PM You can't beat the quality of Koni.
rex362 Sep 18th, 07, 10:24 PM I have asked the same question myself and have seen numerous posts about which shocks ... and the edelbrocks always seem to win out from people that have used other of the combinations you listed...
I have edelbrock IAS shocks and are still in box (resto still in progress)
Derek69SS Sep 18th, 07, 11:12 PM In terms of performance and quality, Koni > Bilstein > Edelbrock
Edelbrocks will ride the smoothest, but likely wear out much quicker than Koni or Bilstein.
Alan Sep 19th, 07, 12:18 AM I love my Bilstein's I installed in my '71 Chevelle back in 2003. Haven't tried any of the other brands you asked about. I think either of them will suit you well IMO.
ss396boy Sep 19th, 07, 1:26 AM I got Bilstiens on my Tacoma and they are pretty nice. Other than the ugly yellow, they are awsome shocks.
Randy 67EC Sep 19th, 07, 9:30 PM I personally like Bilsteins then Koni. Here is a good article on shocks: http://farnorthracing.com/autocross_secrets6.html Makes some good points, seems to be knowledgeable, at least alot more than me. :D
